Community Profile: Columbia

Welcome to Columbia! Columbia is a city like none other in Howard County, Maryland.  In fact, even the founding of Columbia was unique to the area and to suburban centers in general.  Columbia founders decided they wanted their community do more for its people; they wanted it to actually improve the lives of its citizens.

Columbia is a major city in the Baltimore metropolitan area and is a planned community with 10 self-contained villages.  Developer James W. Rouse had a big vision for the area, by reducing the inconveniences of the subdivision design of the 1960’s and to eliminate racial, religious, and class segregation.

The city is one-of-a-kind and ranks consistently on CNN’s top ten Best Places to Live in America and was ranked #1 on Money magazine’s list of Best Places to Live in 2016.  It seems like a pretty great place to settle down and buy a home!  Here are some other awesome things about Columbia.
