    • Get your Technology in Order- Make sure you have all the capabilities, programs, and files that you need to successfully complete your job tasks available to you from your laptop or home computer. This can be done through shared drives, dialing in to your work computer, and/or borrowing a company laptop or Ipad.

    • Turn on a Professional Mindset- It can be hard to focus solely on work when you’re also folding laundry, doing the dishes, etc. You wouldn’t be completing home chores while at the office, so don’t do them while you’re working from home. To get yourself into the appropriate groove, try getting ready for the day the same way that you would if you were going into work. Proper work attire is a good idea, especially when an impromptu video call comes in.

    • Situate Yourself with an Adequate Workspace- We know working from your bed is tempting, but you’ll feel more motivated if you’re in a professional environment. Make use of your home office, or if you don’t have an office at home, set up a desk area with your supplies in a quiet area of the house. The more organized your workspace is, the better you will work.

    • Set Boundaries- If you have family members or roommates also at home, set boundaries with them before you start working. Let them know the hours you plan to dedicate to work tasks so that you are left alone to get it done. Distract the kids with projects, movies, or hire a babysitter. Make sure to have noise canceling headphones so you can use audio without disturbing others in the home, and so your meetings are kept private.
